Job description

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a Business Applications Manager to lead and innovate across our enterprise software development, low code solutions, system integrations, and overall company applications. This role is integral in shaping the strategic direction and execution of key business applications while ensuring seamless integration and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee all activities related to software development, low code development, system integrations, and general application management for internal business applications that are complementary to, but outside the scope of ERP class business systems.
• Software Development Leadership: Direct and oversee the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-level software solutions using tools/technologies such as ASP.NET Core, C#, JavaScript, and SQL Server.
• Low Code Development Management: Lead the implementation, optimization, and governance of low code platforms such as the Microsoft Power Platform to streamline business processes and enhance user productivity.
• System Integration Strategy: Manage the integration among various systems and applications through APIs, web services, and integration services to create a cohesive technology ecosystem.
• Company Website & Intranet Development: Oversee the technical development, optimization, and maintenance of the company website and intranet, ensuring they align with business goals and provide a seamless user experience.
• General Applications Management: Drive the innovation and continuous improvement of a wide array of business applications, ensuring they meet operational needs, are scalable, and align with company objectives.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with business leaders and other departments to understand application needs and develop solutions that align with overall business strategies.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a talented team of developers, system integrators, and application specialists, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and innovation.
• Budget & Resource Management: Oversee the budgeting, allocation of resources, and management of timelines to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• 20+ years of software development experience, with a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams, managing large-scale projects, and aligning technical solutions with business goals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
• Proven integration experience with systems such as Deltek Costpoint, HRIS platforms, Active Directory, and SharePoint.
• Full stack development experience building web applications with .NET Core, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, SQL Server / Azure SQL, IIS.
• Strong developer expertise and experience in SQL Server, including optimization of SQL queries, SSIS, and SSRS.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, as well as web UI development frameworks/technologies for .NET such as Razor Pages, Blazor, MVC, Bootstrap, React, jQuery, or Telerik controls.
• Experience or strong interest in data access/management/integration/analytics technologies such as Entity Framework Core, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, OData, and Power BI.
• Experience with common API frameworks used in development on the Microsoft platform, such as ASP.NET Core, SignalR, OData, and GraphQL.
• Experience with or strong understanding of application security technologies/standards such as OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, WS-Federation, TLS/SSL, OWASP, and digital certificates.
• Strong interest in emerging technologies such as AI/ML and how to best utilize these in building applications that meet the needs of the business.
• Experience or strong interest in developing/deploying custom software solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
• Strong understanding of the Power BI Service for publishing, sharing, and managing content, along with an understanding of best practices for managing the entire Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents, Dataverse).
• Familiar with Project Management tools/technologies such as Microsoft Project, Atlassian Jira/Trello, or Asana.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git and TFS.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
