Product Owner/Business Analyst, New York, NYC (Hybrid Position), 6+ Months Project.
Job Summary
The Product Owner is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating business needs from stakeholders, customers, and end users. This role involves gathering and compiling user requirements to define technology solutions that align with business objectives. The Product Owner will leverage strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to drive technology decisions and optimize business processes. Additionally, they will ensure IT teams fully understand business requirements and priorities.
Responsibilities
- Strategy and Planning:
- Collaborate with project sponsors to define project scope and vision.
- Identify project stakeholders, establish user classes, and document their characteristics.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, surveys, and site visits to gather user requirements.
- Define project impact, outcome criteria, and success metrics.
- Work with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize requirements.
- Review and improve requirements-gathering processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Acquisition and Deployment:
- Assist in researching software and hardware solutions to meet business requirements.
- Participate in QA testing of purchased solutions to ensure optimization.
- Support the selection and implementation of requirements documentation tools.
- Operational Management:
- Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, and feasibility.
- Develop and maintain standard templates for writing requirement specifications.
- Translate business needs into functional requirements for developers and project teams.
- Assist in developing interface prototypes based on user requirements.
- Create process models, diagrams, and charts to guide development teams.
- Conduct peer reviews of business requirements to ensure accurate interpretation.
- Manage and track requirement statuses throughout the project lifecycle.
- Communicate requirement changes and enhancements to stakeholders effectively.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education & Experience
- College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Total IT experience: 15 years.
- Domain-related experience: 5-8 years.
- Proven experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of at least two programming languages.
- Experience with importing data for reporting, spreadsheets, graphs, and flowcharts.
- Proficiency in database operations, software standards, data retrieval, and mainframe applications.
- Strong understanding of project management principles.
- Hands-on experience in Majesco is required.
Soft Skills
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail and logical thinking.
- Ability to conduct research and communicate findings effectively.
- Self-motivated, customer service-oriented, and team-focused.
