Position: Business Analyst – IT Documentation & Cybersecurity
Location: Spartanburg County, SC
Duration: 12 months, with possible extension
Schedule: Full-time, approximately 40 hours/week
Position Overview
The Client is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support a Cybersecurity Program and Documentation Recovery initiative.
The BA will work closely with IT leadership, technical teams, and subject-matter experts to identify documentation gaps, capture institutional knowledge, analyze current-state processes, and create structured business-analysis artifacts that support cybersecurity, operational continuity, disaster recovery, knowledge transfer, and long-term documentation governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder interviews, discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements-gathering activities.
- Work with technical SMEs across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, IT operations, and service delivery.
- Inventory and assess existing technical, operational, security, system, application, infrastructure, and recovery documentation.
- Analyze and document current-state processes, workflows, roles, dependencies, handoffs, and pain points.
- Identify documentation gaps, process risks, knowledge gaps, and opportunities for standardization.
- Create process maps, workflow diagrams, process flows, inventories, matrices, and other BA deliverables.
- Use Microsoft Visio for process mapping and business/technical diagrams.
- Use Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Gather and organize requirements for SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, system documentation, and recovery documentation.
- Translate technical SME knowledge into clear, structured documentation for the Technical Writer.
- Facilitate review and validation sessions with stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation backlogs, priorities, ownership, status, and dependencies.
- Support documentation standards, templates, governance, review cycles, and SharePoint repository organization.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of Business Analysis experience in complex IT or technology environments.
- Strong requirements elicitation, stakeholder interviewing, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Visio.
- Experience working with technical SMEs in infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, IT operations, or service delivery.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with documentation recovery, knowledge management, process standardization, or IT operational maturity initiatives.
- Experience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, or ITSM processes.
- SharePoint documentation repository and governance experience.
- Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or similar frameworks.
- Government or highly regulated environment experience.
- CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, PMP, ITIL Foundation, or similar certification.
