Position Title:Business Analyst IIPosition Type:RegularAbout the Role:The Business Systems Analyst II utilizes experience and systems knowledge to solve complex problems. Individuals in this role shall specialize in Human Resources and Payroll and have the ability to provide consultative assistance to other functional areas at the university such a Finance and Student.Other responsibilities include writing specifications; performing systems and data analysis; implementing and modifying business processes and configurations; and approving detailed test plans. The Business Systems Analyst II may also be required to provide technical configuration, security administration, testing, and support maintenance of NKU's enterprise management system (Workday); and may oversee development assignments across multiple platforms, including Workday integrations and reporting tools.Supports functional areas including reviewing project opportunity proposals, writing specifications, performing business process and data analysis, configuring and modifying Workday business processes and tenant setup, approving detailed test plans, and managing small to medium projects.Provides technical configuration, security group/role administration, testing, and support maintenance of NKU's Workday tenant, including business process configuration, condition rules, and notifications.Collaborates with developers, integration teams, and subject matter experts to establish technical vision, support EIBs/Workday Studio integrations, and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.Works closely with and serves as the primary backup for the area manager.Provides end-user support, troubleshooting, and training on Workday functionality; develops training materials and job aides for business process changes.Provides testing support for projects, system updates, and ongoing enhancements, including regression testing, impact analysis, and review of functional changes.Maintains and implements standards, documentation, security protocols, and best practices for Workday and other university applications.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong working knowledge of Workday architecture, business process framework, and security model (or equivalent enterprise/cloud ERP system, with willingness to develop deep Workday expertise).Ability to analyze complex business problems, identify root causes, and recommend practical, scalable solutions.Skill in gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into system configuration and functional specifications.Ability to develop, execute, and evaluate detailed test plans and scripts.Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills; ability to interpret data and assess the downstream impact of configuration changes.Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, often with competing deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across functional teams, IT staff, and university stakeholders.Ability to train, mentor, and provide guidance to less-experienced analysts.Sound judgment and decision-making ability, particularly regarding system security, data integrity, and process design.High degree of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive institutional data.Proficiency with report writing and data query tools; familiarity with integration concepts (APIs, EIBs) preferred.Ability to adapt to evolving system functionality, including Workday's ongoing release cycle.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business/systems analysis, with direct experience supporting an enterprise resource planning (ERP) or human capital management (HCM) system required; Workday experience strongly preferred. Experience with business process configuration, security administration, and/or report writing within a large enterprise system preferred. Higher education industry experience is a plus.
