As a Business Analyst, You Will

GS-11: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-09] in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience 1) Assisting in the planning, coordination, and day‑to‑day execution of business or technical projects, including tracking project tasks, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocations; 2) Applying analytical and evaluative techniques to examine business workflows, processes, or systems and identifying areas to improve operational efficiency; 3) Gathering, consolidating, and analyzing operational, financial, or performance data to assist in preparing forecasts, status reports, and project briefings.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community‑based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience 1) Performing the day‑to‑day management and control of projects, including monitoring deliverables, mitigating risks, resolving project issues, and controlling scope creep; 2) Conducting detailed business analyses to evaluate complex operational processes or systems, perform root cause analysis, and recommend actionable solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness; 3) Shaping, monitoring, and adjusting project forecasts (cost, schedule, and resources), as well as establishing tracking and reporting metrics to monitor project performance.
