Job summary

Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) is seeking a skilled Business Analyst to support the Illinois State Police on complex applications projects. You will translate business needs into functional specifications and supervise SDLC activities from requirements through deployment.

Optimum candidates have four years of college in CS and at least three years of IT experience in Applications Services, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Essential Functions
  • Under administrative direction, serves as a Business Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) supporting the Illinois State Police (ISP) performing complex professional and advisory functions for the Application Services.
  • Develops user stories, use cases, and program specifications, supporting design, testing, training, knowledge transfer, system tuning, and system implementation efforts to ensure business analysis results are accurately translated and maintained throughout the full System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Collaborates with Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) technical staff and serves as a project team leader on complex initiatives, overseeing project planning, task coordination, technical solution development, and quality assurance to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Analyzes and recommends new procedures and techniques to improve requirements gathering, articulation, process, and data modeling, testing and documentation process.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the information technology field by continuing education through online training platforms**,**meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and remain current on products, vendors, techniques, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
  • Requires three (3) years of professional experience in Applications Services or a related Information Technology field.
