Job summary

Smart IMS Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a Business Analyst for a 7-8 month contract. Hybrid work arrangement and close collaboration with stakeholders will drive the delivery of application development initiatives.

You will elicit requirements, map processes, document SDLC artifacts, and support testing to ensure solutions meet business needs. You will participate in Agile ceremonies, coordinate communications, and help with process improvements and standardization efforts.

Job Title: Business Analyst

Location Preference: Hybrid

Job Description:As a Business Analyst, you will support application development initiatives by eliciting and documenting business requirements, analyzing business processes, coordinating stakeholder communications, and validating solutions through testing activities. This role requires strong experience in systems analysis, Agile methodologies, requirements management, and quality assurance to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct project initiation activities and support requirements discovery efforts.

• Collaborate with business users and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and implemented effectively.

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

• Extensive experience in business analysis, systems analysis, requirements gathering, and SDLC methodologies.
• Strong experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Proven ability to elicit, analyze, and document complex business and system requirements.
• Experience supporting application development, maintenance, implementation, and business process improvement initiatives.
• Strong background in business process mapping, workflow analysis, and requirements documentation.
• Hands-on experience performing manual testing of web-based applications.
• Experience creating and executing test plans, test scripts, and validation procedures.
• Ability to identify, document, and track defects and application issues effectively.
• Strong meeting facilitation, stakeholder communication, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with .NET-based application projects and Azure DevOps/Team Foundation Server (TFS) is preferred.

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $45.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
