Job summary

Liberty University, Inc. is seeking a Business Analyst to develop a deep understanding of the University's spend and to communicate insights to stakeholders.

The role focuses on building procurement strategies from expense data, generating actionable intelligence, and supporting procurement projects across the university. The candidate will collect and analyze transactional spend data, create spend maps, and contribute to supplier rationalization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in business.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • IIBA certification or equivalent in Business Analytics.
  • Experience with databases and large datasets and its application to business strategy.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and source‑to‑pay software systems.
  • Must not be in default on any federal student loan.
  • Must not be convicted of, pled, or found guilty of a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds.

Business Analyst

The Business Analyst is responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of the University’s spend and communicating the characteristics of that spend to key internal stakeholders. The aim of the role is to develop procurement strategies by providing insights and actionable intelligence mined from expense transactions and related datasets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, organize, and analyze transactional spend data from multiple systems.
  • Create an organizational spend map that outlines key spend characteristics.
  • Category transactions as needed to summarize spend by key characteristics.
  • Summarize analysis into reports and communicate results to key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to supplier rationalization decisions based on spend analysis.
  • Support Procurement staff by providing ad‑hoc spend analysis as needed.
  • Actively pursue means of automating data processing and analysis processes.
  • Develop a strong technical understanding of the procurement systems in use.
  • Regularly pursue professional development.
  • Perform other duties and assist in procurement projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Business Administration or Master’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience.
  • Certified Management Accountant.
  • Fluency in Spanish or American Sign Language.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in business.
  • 2–4 years of professional experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • International Institution of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification or equivalent in Business Analytics.
  • Experience with databases and large datasets and its application to business strategy.
  • Well‑developed reasoning, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and source‑to‑pay software systems.
  • Ability to articulate and defend the unique Christian educational mission and vision of Liberty University and its subsidiaries to a variety of individuals and groups.
  • Must not be in default on any federal student or parent loan.
  • Must not be convicted of, pled, or found guilty of a crime involving the acquisition, use, or expenditure of federal, state, or local government funds, or be administratively or judicially determined to have committed fraud or any other material violation of law involving federal, state, or local government funds.
  • Driver certification: 21 years or older, valid driver’s license, minimum five years of documented driving history, and a clean driving record.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication to convey clear, well‑articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English professionally.
  • Public communication skills for professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Problem solving: intuitively reason, analyze information, and apply judgment to solve routine and complex problems.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Occasional travel to locations throughout Virginia and occasionally out of state.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and climbing stairs to move about the building.
  • Handling materials, reaching overhead, kneeling or stooping as needed for business.
  • Regularly lift up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions

The working environment is a climate‑controlled office setting that is well lighted and has a moderate noise level.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is determined based on qualifications and experience and ranges from $55,000.00 to $60,000.00. The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
