Job summary

Nimber is seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join a dynamic, international financial services environment in Porto. The role is embedded in cross-functional teams and focuses on translating business needs into clear functional specifications and user stories, while supporting stability of operations through incident and change management.

You will lead end-to-end process analysis, work in Agile/hybrid delivery, and mentor junior analysts.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join a dynamic and international financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• The candidate will act as the key bridge between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams, ensuring that solutions built are fully aligned with operational and strategic needs.
• Operating within an Agile/hybrid delivery framework, the BA will be embedded in cross-functional teams, contributing to the full lifecycle of projects — from requirements elicitation through to UAT and production rollout — while also supporting the stability of existing operations through incident and change management.
• The ideal consultant brings a strong analytical mindset, a solid understanding of financial services processes, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization — from end users to senior business leaders and technical teams.
• Beyond individual delivery, this role carries a mentoring dimension, supporting junior analysts and contributing to the continuous improvement of BA practices within the team.

Requirements:

Business & Functional

• Strong capability in end-to-end process analysis and functional design
  Ability to translate complex business needs into clear, structured functional specifications and user stories;
• Experience managing and prioritizing a change request backlog in alignment with business expectations;
• Familiarity with application lifecycle management and production support processes;
• Capacity to conduct deep impact analysis, taking legacy systems and dependencies into account.

Technical Aptitude

• Comfortable working with SQL or similar tools for report creation and data extraction;
• Ability to identify and evaluate reporting and analytics tools suited to business needs;
• Good understanding of the end-to-end development process, from business requirements to production deployment;
• Exposure to financial systems or platforms (e.g. payments, asset management, banking core systems) is a plus.

Stakeholder & Communication

• Strong stakeholder management skills across business, IT, and third-party vendors;
• Ability to adapt communication style depending on the audience (technical vs. non-technical);
• Experience facilitating business user interviews and workshops;
• Comfortable acting as the primary point of contact between development teams and product stakeholders;
• Ability to train and mentor business users and junior analysts on delivered solutions.

Soft Skills

• Structured, rigorous, and detail-oriented in documentation;
• Proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions;
• Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset;
• Curious and up-to-date with industry trends and best practices;
• English – Fluent (mandatory) / French – appreciated.
