Job summary

Department of Transportation in New York City seeks a Bus Priority Design Innovation Lead to advance the City’s bus priority program under the Streets Plan. The role leads a team focused on improving bus speeds, reliability, safety, and accessibility for millions of riders annually.

The Lead will manage staff, research best practices, collaborate with partners to develop design tools, and implement innovative techniques within the Transit Development unit.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in city planning or related field with two years of experience.
• Graduate education may substitute for experience per the rule, with 30 graduate credits equating to one year; a bachelor’s degree is still required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor staff.
• Research best practices in bus priority street design.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners to advance new design tools.
• Implement innovative design techniques with TD colleagues.
• Lead Bus Stop Accessibility Program implementation.
• Track and evaluate progress.
