Job summary

The Regional Transit Authority in New Orleans seeks a full-time Bus Operator to drive assigned routes, keeping to schedule and delivering safe, courteous passenger service.

Starting pay during training is $16.31 per hour, rising to $22.83 per hour after successful completion of training, with pay rate increases under the ATU agreement.

Applicants must be 21+, hold CDL with P endorsement, pass background checks and meet education requirements.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English to complete reports and forms.
• Must have basic arithmetic and time-keeping abilities.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate a passenger bus on assigned routes safely.
• Provide courteous customer service to passengers.
• Communicate with central dispatch via radio.
• Prepare written reports on incidents and vehicle defects.
• Maintain schedule and fare handling per regulations.
