Job summary

Douglas County School District seeks a Mechanic II - Inspector to maintain district diesel, gas, and auxiliary fleet equipment including school buses and trucks. You will inspect transmissions, fuel systems, exhaust, steering, and brakes, while performing emission tests per state standards. DOT and CDE guidelines apply.

The role requires working with diagnostic tools and collaborating with stakeholders. The position offers a full-time schedule, 40 hours per week, and a competitive hourly rate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with diesel/gas buses and maintenance preferred.
• Ability to read and follow FMVSS/FMCSR guidelines and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect transmissions, hydraulic systems, and engine components for wear or failure.
• Inspect fuel systems, pumps, injectors, and safety cages as needed.
• Inspect air/exhaust systems and repair turbochargers and piping as needed.
• Inspect front-end components, steering, and alignment where applicable.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections per manufacturer standards and FMVSS/FMCSR requirements.
• Complete gas and diesel emission tests per Colorado regulations.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
