Job summary

Douglas County School District is seeking a Mechanic I - Master ASE to maintain district diesel and gas-powered buses, trucks, and equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, engine repairs, and emission testing to meet FMVSS/FMCSR standards.

The role requires ASE Master Bus Technician certifications, CDE and DOT inspection familiarity, and the ability to work with a diverse team on safety-critical systems. The position is based at West Building B - Construction and Transportation Fleet.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to support positive outcomes and effective communication.
• Must be able to obtain knowledge and use of Pro link and Snap-On handheld diagnostic scanner within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of Cummins engine diagnostics and vehicle systems; familiar with diesel/gas powered school buses and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repair on district buses, trucks, and equipment as assigned.
• Inspect and repair diesel and gas engines, transmissions, brakes, and emission systems to meet FMVSS/FMCSR standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical, fuel, and hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and scanners.
• Coordinate with team to ensure safety and compliance with DOT, CDE and ASE standards.
