Job summary

Knappa School District No. 4 is seeking a Knappa Bus Mechanic/Maintenance Assistant to maintain the district’s bus fleet and assist the Transportation Supervisor in daily operations.

This 1.0 FTE, 260-day position reports to the Transportation Supervisor and offers a full-time schedule based in Astoria, Oregon. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid Oregon Class B license with passenger endorsement and air brake qualification (OSB certificate), and at least two years of

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Oregon Class B license with passenger endorsement and air brake qualification; must have OSB certificate.
• Pass physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Minimum two years as a diesel or heavy-duty mechanic.
• First-aid card or willingness to obtain one.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others.
• Salary range: $24.68-$33.44 per hour plus benefits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain bus fleet and district vehicles as required.
• Assist Transportation Supervisor in daily operations.
• Drive buses and other district vehicles.
• Maintain maintenance records and schedules for vehicles and buses.
• Keep bus garage organized and stocked; manage waste fluids and supplies.
• Ensure buses are clean, fueled, oiled, in good repair, and ready for routes and trips.
• Assist Maintenance Director in summer months and special tasks.
• Be adaptable to change and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
