Job summary

The University of Georgia in Athens is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the transit bus fleet. You will fuel Diesel buses, dispense DEF, monitor electric buses, clean interiors and perform basic maintenance in outdoor yards.

Ideal candidates will have valid driver’s license, ability to work in variable weather, and the stamina to operate and clean large vehicles. This hourly position offers a consistent schedule and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in adverse climates.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work with solvents, detergents, and adhesives.
• Ability to perform cleaning of large vehicles.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work cooperatively with employees.
• Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
• Possess physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

• Detailing: Clean inside of buses, sweep/vacuum/mop and sanitize areas.
• Fueling: Diesel fueling, DEF dispensing, monitor electric bus charging.
• General: Track buses, report damages, inspect graffiti, follow safety standards, perform other duties.
