Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $24.72 hourlyand reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expectsto pay for this staff appointment. Actual compensation may varybased on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, aswell as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers arobust suite of employeebenefits.
Summary
Performs work in the operation of a vehicle to assure safetransportation of passengers to and from various destinations.Additional responsibilities include maintaining a variety ofrecords, such as time at each stop, the purpose of the trip, thenumber of passengers per day, mileage, and vehiclemaintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives CBU bus/s for the purpose of transporting passengersover scheduled routes to and from CBU in a safe and timelymanner.
- Maintain a variety of records: driving time, purpose of trip,mileage, and vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge and comply with traffic and highway safety rules andregulations.
- Clean the bus as scheduled and/or required.
- Ensure the bus is safely and securely stored.
- Assesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potentialemergency situations (e.g. road hazards, medical emergencies,accidents, etc.) for the purpose of resolving and/or recommending aresolution to the situation.
- Assists students and other passengers for the purpose ofproviding safe loading and unloading from buses during normaltransport and emergency situations.
- Fuels assigned vehicle (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.) for thepurpose of maintaining vehicle in a safe operating condition.
- Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels,tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.) for the purpose ofensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and complyingwith mandated guidelines.
- Maintains and keeps log book or Electronic Logging Deviceaccurate and complete for CHP inspection.
- Reports defects or maintenance problems with vehicle tosupervisor.
- Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes orother passengers.
- Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBUAthletics Department.
- Possess a valid California Class "B" driver's license with apassenger endorsement, medical card (physical), and a clean DMVrecord.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability and skill to operate light-duty passenger vehicles(Class1-3), medium-duty passenger vehicles (Class 4-6), and uponairbrake endorsement, heavy-duty passenger vehicles (Class 7,8).
- Ability to understand and follow oral and writteninstructions.
- Ability to pass a random, reasonable suspicion, andpost-accident drug and alcohol tests.
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the dutiesof the position.
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and preparereports.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the abilityto work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and studentbody.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions andjudgments.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Ability to enter information into existing recordkeepingsystems.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to drawconclusions.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree ( GED ); or one tothree months related experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience.
