Camp Cayuga is seeking an experienced bus driver to transport children and staff for a residential summer camp. The role involves driving to various locations, ensuring safety, and maintaining discipline among passengers. Benefits include housing, meals, and a friendly work environment in the Pocono Mountains.
Seeking an experienced bus driver to transport children and staff for a residential coed summer camp. Position dates: mid-June to mid-August. Housing, meals, and laundry service provided. Camp Cayuga is located in Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania about 2½ hours from NYC & Philadelphia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Drive the camp’s school bus to designated locations in accordance with the camp’s time schedules and trip calendar.
* Transport campers and staff on activity trips. This includes trips to the local baseball stadium, playhouse/theatre, and pizzerias. It also involves taking campers to sporting events at other camps, shuttling staff & campers back and forth to airports, and general errands and excursions.
* Comply with Camp Cayuga’s rules & regulations regarding off-camp trips, transportation, and emergency communications.
* Ensures bus rules are announced and followed.
* Maintain good order and discipline among the passengers.
* Promotes safety and keeps the bus first aid supplies fully stocked.
* Ability to respond to emergency situations.
* Perform pre/post trip safety inspections of the camp’s bus to ensure it is in proper working order.
* Report all mechanical deficiencies promptly.
* Keep the Travel Log up-to-date.
* Sweep, clean, and re-fuel the bus.
* Develops friendly and positive relationships among the campers and staff.
* Communicates regularly with Cayuga’s Transportation Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Drivers must be at least 21 years of age
* Must hold a current driver’s license with CDL passenger and school bus endorsement, in addition to an air brake endorsement.
* Have a minimum of one year bus driving experience in transporting children.
* Must have clean driving record.
* Possesses and maintains necessary clearances as required by law. These include reference checks, criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex-offender registry check, and other staff screening checks deemed appropriate.
* Applicants must be individuals with high moral character, good personal hygiene, and strong work ethic.
* Bus drivers are considered members of Cayuga’s senior staff. Senior Staff is a title used to describe positions reserved for professionals who assume leadership roles at camp.
* We expect our staff members to be excellent role models for our campers.
* Previous experience working with children is preferred.
