Job Description

The Bus Driver position will transport passengers in a large bus or other vehicle as needed. Perform a variety of laundry attending, cleaning services, and other related duties required to keep remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, office facilities, or similar areas in a clean and orderly condition. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation services using a variety of vehicles ranging from standard passenger vehicles to large passenger buses and off-road vehicles.
• Extensive driving with the possibility of foul weather conditions.
• Loading and unloading passenger luggage.
• Responsible for extensive transport and delivery of a variety of items to and from sites.
• Locates and distributes materials to specific areas manually or using handcart, hand truck, and Tommy lift.
• Drive Box Van to outlying areas to deliver material.
• Uses appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
• Removes and properly disposes of discarded materials.
• May compact trash.
• Removes and transports trash to the appropriate disposal areas.
• Participates in and supports corporate safety programs.
• Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least five (5) years of bus driving experience in a related field.
• A valid Class B Commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement, air brake endorsement, and valid CDL medical card.
• Acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years with no DUI's in the last five (5) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
• Must pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include: drug test, physical, fit for duty assessment, and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for travel expenses.
• Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
• Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
• Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift.
• Must be able to live in dormitory-style settings and meet cleanliness requirements.
• Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
• Must adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Candidates Residing Outside Anchorage Area

Candidates residing in Alaska & the Lower 48 for any contract: For pre-employment testing, Anchorage is the point of hire (except drug testing). Employees are responsible for travel and accommodations for pre-employment tasks in Anchorage. For Alyeska Contract in Alaska, testing is scheduled near the residence unless unavailable.

Flights to Remote Locations: Employees cover expenses for reporting to Anchorage for trips paid by the company.

Weather: Indoor/Outdoor, frequently arctic conditions.

Noise level: Moderate to Loud.

Environment: Industrial remote camp setting.

Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, standing, walking, climbing stairs, shoveling, and other physical tasks as detailed.
