Job summary

Job description

Overview

Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Bus Drill Coordinator for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The role is responsible for ensuring that Transdev Services, Inc., and Boston Public Schools Department of Transportation are compliant with state requirements for school bus evacuation drills.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a curriculum and associated supporting materials on school bus evacuation drills.
  • Coordinate with the Safety and Training Department, BPS DOT, and school staff to schedule and assign resources for drills.
  • Conduct school bus evacuation drills at each school location in accordance with Massachusetts law, educating students, staff, faculty, support personnel, school bus drivers, and other relevant personnel.
  • Complete weekly reports on progress toward annual goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform duties of a School Bus Safety Trainer as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Valid Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
  • Valid Massachusetts School Bus Certificate and Instructor Certificate.
  • Valid Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card.
  • Excellent motor vehicle record.
  • Preferred: College degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in student transportation operations.
  • Preferred: School Bus Driver training experience and adult instruction experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication with regulatory agencies, community organizations, and others.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers on all levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant programs.
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Poise, tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Physical Demands
  • Work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.

  • Travel for company training, meetings, or support missions (80% travel).
Work Environment

The work involves exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, occasional fumes or airborne particles, and moderate noise levels. The environment may vary by location.
