Job summary

First Student, Inc. is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate bus dispatch, monitor on-time performance, and advise drivers and monitors on front-line operations.

This role requires 3-5 years of experience, a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under time constraints. The position offers a daytime schedule with opportunities for advancement within a nationwide transportation network.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of dispatcher or related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines under time constraints.
• Computer literate.
• Subject to DOT drug testing per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversees routes and scheduling of buses.
• Counsels and coaches drivers and monitors.
• Handles heavy phone and radio traffic.
• Reports scheduling and driver complaints to Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager.
• Acts as primary liaison with major contracted customer.
• May handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll.
• Provides solutions to drop-off and pick-up problems.
• Back-up driver duties or other clerical tasks as needed.
• Completes special projects.
• Assists with day-to-day operations supervision.
