The Driver is responsible for transporting individuals of varying ages and abilities participating in Parks and Recreation programs and activities. Drivers are responsible for transporting participants in a safe, timely and courteous manner. This position is responsible for operating our vans according to City policies and all local driving laws.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- *Complete pre and post trip inspection of vehicles before each outing to ensure it is in safe, clean, organized operational condition. Report needed repairs.
- Complete trainings and orientations as assigned.
- *Immediately report accidents and incidents.
- *Immediately reports all driving violations, whether they occur on or off the job.
- *Must be able to follow assigned routes. Report any delays or problems arising during the course of transportation.
- *Attend training sessions and staff meetings and seminars as requested.
- *Must maintain through knowledge of the department functions.
- *Maintain vehicle interior and exterior cleanliness.
- *Reinforce proper behavior with children and/or teenagers. Treat children, teenagers, senior citizens and adults with respect.
- *Must demonstrate common sense with disciplinary action of youth and adhere to all rules and agency policies.
- *Assist with or participates in activities or outings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must perform job duties in a safe manner, reporting and assisting in correcting potentially unsafe conditions and able to use necessary equipment and materials properly.
- A well-groomed appearance while on the job is required. Uniformed shirts issued by the department must be worn daily and appropriate footwear to avoid injury is required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hear noises and distress signals. Should have a minimum. Hearing threshold of no more than an average of 25 decibel loss in both ears over a range of frequencies.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- Drivers will frequently be sitting for long periods of time. Will be required to work while standing, walking, reaching, lifting, transferring, climbing, kneeling, or balancing.
- This position requires working in both an internal and outside environment. There may frequent temperature fluctuations, extreme hot, cold, wet conditions.
- This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent required.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
- A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must be able to complete all required training.
- Knowledge of City's park and recreation facilities, activities, and programs preferred.
- Certification in first aid and CPR a plus.
