Job Description

The Underwriting Assistant will support the Transportation and Specialty Automobile Operations team by ensuring accurate and efficient processing of underwriting transactions and policy management.

What you will do for C&F:

Pre-Quote Support

  • Validate data entry in underwriting systems (e.g., auto and general liability classification, loss schedules).
  • Verify documentation for coverage and limits.
  • Communicate with producers to obtain necessary information.

Post-Bind Transaction Management

  • Draft and verify policy documents using internal systems.
  • Approve policy drafts within designated authority; escalate as needed.
  • Book premiums and confirm accurate postings.
  • Issue approved policies and report data to third-party agencies (e.g., Workers Compensation bureaus, DMV).
  • Process endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.

Team Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve policy questions and streamline processes.
  • Participate in system testing and special projects as assigned

What you will bring to C&F:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Policy Decisions with emphasis on Auto Insurance rate & rule application
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet-based technology.
  • Excellent math and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a positive outlook, possess a service mentality, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $34,400.00 to a maximum of $64,600.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
