Job summary

The Town of Rangeley is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to oversee inspection services for building, zoning, and enforcement of local codes. The officer acts as Building Inspector and 911 Addressing Officer, coordinating with the Town Manager and Deputy CEO to ensure compliance with municipal, state, and federal requirements.

Responsibilities include interpreting codes, issuing permits, reviewing plans, and presenting ordinances.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of municipal, state, and national building and zoning codes and related ordinances.
• Ability to enforce codes and interpret regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Interprets building, zoning, plumbing and related codes as part of Rangeley Town Code.
• Enforces state building code, town zoning ordinances and applicable regulations.
• Issues permits for buildings and land-use activities and collects fees.
• Calculates, assesses and notifies departments of new sewer connections and related fees.
• Reviews subdivision and shoreland zoning permit applications for compliance.
• Drafts or collaborates on ordinances and presents them for approval.
• Reviews plans for construction to ensure compliance with codes and bylaws.
• Inspects sites and buildings to identify violations and gather evidence for notices.
