Job summary

COPT Defense Properties is seeking a Facilities Technician to assist in monitoring and maintaining the appearance and operation of properties at National Business Park in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role involves responding to minor repairs, performing routine maintenance, and supporting security needs as required.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and may hold a CFC certificate. 0-1 year of related experience and basic PC skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• CFC certificate and apprentice license preferred.
• Experience: 0-1 year in similar field or vocational training.
• Computer skills: basic PC skills and ability to learn company software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with minor building repairs (carpentry, painting, hardware).
• Perform routine maintenance and safety checks.
• Inspect premises daily; maintain interior and exterior appearance.
• Support building systems preventive maintenance and report issues to Chief Building Technician.
• Assist with security duties, events, and life/safety responses.
• Maintain tools and supplies; follow written/verbal directions.

Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist with monitoring and maintaining quality appearance and operation of property. Respond to minor repairs and maintenance items as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assist with minor building repairs including, but not limited to, carpentry and painting, installing hardware, changing light bulbs, changing filters, cleaning coils and equipment and providing re-keying and key cutting for tenants.
• Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes.

Inspect premises on daily basis

• Remove all debris, clean walks, and other areas as necessary.
• Maintain interior and exterior appearance of building as require

Assist with assigned building systems preventive maintenance.

Report identified building problems to the Chief Building Technician.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Aid and assist with special events.
• Assist with day-to-day security needs of building.
• Investigate alarm sequences, unauthorized entry/vandalism and life/safety situations.
• Maintain all tools, parts, and supplies in an organized manner.
• Inform the Chief Building Technician of any needs for replacement, restocking or repair of items.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - High school diploma or equivalent.

Further Training -

• CFC certificate and apprentice license preferred.

Professional Experience - 0-1 year of work experience in similar field and/or completion of approved vocational training at recognized technical school.

Computer Skills - Basic PC skills and the ability to learn company specific software

Mobility - N/A

Other Requirements -

• Ability to routinely perform off hour duty including evenings, weekends and holidays and to be available and respond accordingly during these periods when so assigned.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance.
• Good verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal direction.
• Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with tenants, suppliers and other technicians
• Ability to develop troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• May be required to carry and maintain appropriate government credentials.

EQUIPMENT OPERATION:

• Standard office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, fax machine, printer, etc.
• Motor vehicle, testing devices, hand tools, etc.

Pay Range: $45,000 - $100,000
