Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) is seeking an Operating Engineer to ensure safe, efficient operation of building systems across our Rochester facilities. You will monitor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS, perform preventive maintenance, and respond promptly to service requests to keep environments comfortable and compliant.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience in large-scale facilities, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and maintaining commercial building systems in facilities of 100,000+ square feet.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose equipment problems and determine corrective actions.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and building management system interfaces.
• Physical capability to perform tasks including climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related equipment.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems.
• Respond to service requests and coordinate with vendors for repairs.
• Monitor equipment performance and maintain logs using CMMS.
• Conduct daily rounds to identify issues and maintain cleanliness of spaces.
• Assist energy management by monitoring consumption and implementing efficiency measures.
• Support after-hours on-call emergency response.
