Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in Columbus, OH is seeking an Operating Engineer 1 to keep critical building systems running. You will apply hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will perform preventive maintenance, analyze BAS data, and collaborate with senior engineers to expand your technical skills in a dynamic facilities environment.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and valid driver's license required for access and travel between sites.
• High school diploma or GED with two years of trades schooling in electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC technologies.
• Universal Technician Certification for CFC refrigerant handling per EPA regulations.
• Minimum 1+ year experience in commercial/industrial maintenance focusing on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general building ops.
• Experience with CMMS, preventive maintenance software, and BAS with RTU performance monitoring.
• US citizenship is required for this government contract position.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC systems; diagnose malfunctions; restore full functionality.
• Analyze system performance using BAS, blueprints, schematics, pressures and airflow.
• Perform preventive maintenance for HVACR, chillers and related systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
• Maintain electrical systems including voltage distribution and lighting.
• Install, repair and maintain plumbing, doors, gates, and safety systems.
• Conduct daily start-up procedures for fire pumps, water heaters, boilers, elevators and compressors.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to grow technical skills across building systems.
