Job summary

Central States Health & Life Co. of Omaha is seeking a full-time Facilities Engineer to maintain the Home Office property and grounds, and to operate and service building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated experience with plumbing, HVAC, building mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Strong attention to detail and planning to prioritize requests.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and update building systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing.
• Perform building checks for HVAC problems, water leaks, climate control, and alarm checks.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for snow removal, sprinkler repairs, equipment installation, and plumbing projects.
• Adjust heating and cooling equipment to maintain comfort for employees and tenants.
• Manage sprinkler systems during seasonal changes; repair sprinkler lines as needed.
• Ensure safety by walking grounds and parking lots and managing ice/snow/debris removal; operate snow removal equipment in winter.
• Ensure proper lighting by replacing bulbs/ballasts; upgrade to energy-efficient lighting when possible.
• Conserve energy and minimize expenses through maintenance.
• Respond to facility work requests related to safety and building systems.
• Maintain supplies for wellness center and launder towels as needed.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance logs and records.
• Set clocks for Daylight Saving Time; check emergency lighting.
• Maintain maintenance areas such as electric rooms, boiler rooms, and equipment rooms.
• Operate company vehicle safely for deliveries/pickups; comply with traffic laws.
• Research issues and work with service users to present recommendations clearly.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
