Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an UNION Operating Engineer to manage mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across assigned properties in Florida. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, rounds, and ensuring safe, clean operation.

You will perform HVAC and building system repairs, monitor energy management, and respond to emergencies. A high school diploma and relevant trade experience are required; licensing and on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial property setting
• High School Diploma or GED; apprentice program or trade school preferred
• Appropriate license/permit for trade (Journeyman or Master Electrician License or related)
• Possess valid driver’s license and good driving record where applicable
• Experience with energy management systems and building controls
• May be required to work extended shifts/on-call; basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing, electrical, or HVAC requirements of the building(s)
• Maintain heating equipment, chillers, DX units, pumps, cooling towers, and air distribution systems
• Monitor and adjust mechanical/pneumatic equipment and control systems
• Verify field conditions and perform repairs or adjustments
• Monitor Energy Management
• Repair doors, ceilings, and floors; perform general building repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance per standards and guidelines
• Inspect and maintain engine room, electrical rooms, and pumps
• Replace lamps and signage; ensure clear access to emergency exits
• Document activities and report to supervisor
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns
• Comply with codes, regulations, and safety practices
• Complete required safety training
• Maintain professional appearance and dress code
