Job summary

ABM Industries is seeking a Building Engineer in Irvine, CA to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. You will troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, coordinate service calls, escort vendors on-site, and collaborate with contractors to keep the facility safe and compliant.

Day shift: Monday–Friday, $35 per hour. Requires 3–5 years in building engineering or facilities management with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and BAS skills; EPA refrigerant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in building engineering, facilities management, or related field.
• Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and BAS.
• Strong troubleshooting, safety knowledge, and energy efficiency practices.
• EPA Universal Certification for refrigerants preferred; relevant trade licenses a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Address and resolve malfunctions promptly to minimize disruptions.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies during and after business hours.
• Schedule and coordinate service calls with internal teams and external vendors.
• Monitor building management systems (BMS) to optimize energy usage and performance.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and repairs.
• Escort vendors and contractors on-site following safety protocols and site rules.
• Support capital improvement projects and collaborate with vendors/contractors.
