Job summary

ABM is seeking a Building Engineer in Irvine, CA to operate, maintain, and repair building systems, ensuring safety and compliance. The role involves troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and coordinating service calls with vendors and contractors.

Day shift, Monday–Friday, with the potential to respond to emergencies. Requires 3–5 years in related fields and relevant certifications; offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or technical cert preferred.
• 3–5 years in building engineering, facilities management, or related field.
• Proficient with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and BAS; strong troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and energy practices.
• EPA Universal Certification preferred; relevant trade licenses are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Address and resolve building system malfunctions promptly to minimize disruptions.
• Respond to service requests and emergencies during and after business hours.
• Schedule and coordinate service calls with internal teams and external vendors.
• Monitor building management systems (BMS) to optimize energy usage and system performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
• Escort vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring adherence to site protocols and safety requirements.
• Assist with capital improvement projects and renovations, providing technical input and oversight.
• Develop and implement operating procedures for facility operations.
