Job summary

JLL seeks an Operating Engineer to ensure reliable operation of building systems in El Monte, CA, supporting tenant comfort and safety while assisting the Lead Engineer with daily maintenance tasks.

You will perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and mechanical systems, monitor readings, and log data. You will troubleshoot DDC and pneumatic controls, coordinate with contractors, and uphold life-safety standards for a high-rise/commercial setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with trade schooling in electrical, refrigeration, or HVAC.
• 5+ years in critical, commercial, or industrial facility operations.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire suppression systems.

Responsibilities

• Respond to tenant service requests and perform essential maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and building systems.
• Monitor readings and log equipment data; verify start-up and safety checks.
• Troubleshoot and operate direct digital control systems and pneumatic controls.
• Assist contractors during major overhauls and inspections; maintain life safety compliance.
