Job summary

County Of Maui is seeking a Land Use Permit Clerk to receive, review, and process building plans and permit applications; approve simple plans under specific conditions; issue building permits; and perform other related duties as required.

The role requires knowledge of building codes, clerical skills, and the ability to assist the public. A high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of clerical experience, including public contact, are expected.

Qualifications

• A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, including or supplemented by training in typing, and two years of clerical or office experience, one of which shall have included public contact experience.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans, rules, and regulations.
• Familiarity with office machines and standard software.
• Knowledge of general provisions of building and related codes and ordinances.
