Job summary

Newmark in Farmington Hills, MI, seeks a Building Engineer/Maintenance Tech to maintain, troubleshoot and repair building systems across commercial properties. You will manage daily duties, respond to tenant requests, and coordinate with management and contractors to keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 2–3 years of relevant experience; knowledge of HVAC, generator and energy management systems; strong communication and customer service skills; and

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 2–3 years building operations maintenance/engineering experience preferred
• Knowledge of HVAC, generator systems and energy management systems
• General computer knowledge
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to answer after hours emergencies

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, life safety, fire protection and security systems
• Work independently while managing day-to-day duties
• Respond to tenant work orders for HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical needs
• Prioritize tenant requests and coordinate with management
• Oversee outside contractors and supervise contractors during tenant build-out
• Maintain maintenance logs and records; familiarity with work order software a plus
• Provide monthly activity reports highlighting major projects and issues
• Follow site operating procedures and safety guidelines
• Assist in snow removal and coordinate with snow contractors
• Provide after-hours coverage and emergency response
• Interface with clients and other team members
• Perform other non-routine duties as assigned
