Building Maintenance Worker (Corrections)

This position involves performing maintenance and repairs on city buildings, equipment, and facilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair stationary engines and mechanical equipment.
- Operate high-pressure equipment, generators, air compressors, pumps, and other devices.
- Perform minor electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, bulbs, ballast, fuses, circuit breakers, and electric door locks.
- Conduct minor plumbing repairs such as fixing or replacing toilets, sinks, showers, washers, water valves, sump pumps, and unclogging drains.
- Install finish goods like flooring, painting, and drywall.
- Replace or repair security cameras and recording equipment.
- Be available for on-call duties including snow removal and emergency repairs.
- Maintain plumbing, steam, and water systems, windows, doors, locks, pumps, and fans.
- Perform minor electrical repairs and replace building components and fixtures.
- Fabricate items from metal if needed.
- Operate various power and hand tools to complete tasks.
- Repair furniture and perform concrete pouring, asphalt repair, fencing, signage, and park equipment maintenance as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to review, classify, and analyze data related to maintenance tasks.
- Effective communication skills to explain and demonstrate tasks.
- Proficiency in operating, calibrating, and adjusting tools and machinery.
- Ability to interpret regulations, blueprints, manuals, and work orders.
- Basic math skills including calculations involving area, volume, and measurements.
- Ability to follow instructions and exercise judgment in changing situations.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform maintenance duties.
- Sensory skills to detect colors, odors, sounds, and shapes for safety and quality control.
Minimum Qualifications
An Associate's degree in Building Maintenance, Building Systems Engineering Technology, or a related field with an emphasis on electrical, carpentry, or plumbing, OR two years of experience in building maintenance.
Additional Requirements
Some positions may require certification for refrigerant removal and being on-call for emergency repairs.
