Job summary

The Salvation Army A Georgia Corp in Ocala, FL seeks a maintenance assistant to perform routine repairs on buildings, equipment, and vehicles, and to maintain grounds around facilities. This role includes minor plumbing and carpentry tasks, preventative vehicle maintenance, and floor care across indoor and outdoor areas.

Candidates should have at least two years of maintenance experience, a valid state driver’s license, and a high school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
• Carry out routine grounds keeping to maintain landscape beautification.
• Handle minor plumbing and carpentry repairs as needed.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on Salvation Army vehicles.
• Sweep, vacuum, strip, mop, and wax floors; clean and maintain surfaces.
• Move office furniture and equipment as required.
• Drive a vehicle daily and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Job description

Schedule/Hours: M-F 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break (40 hours per week).This position is responsible for:Performs routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work.Key Responsibilities:Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor pluming repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.Ability to maintain driving ability according to State, DOT, and Salvation Army policies, procedures, and certifications.Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.Employee Benefits:Health, Dental and Vision InsurancePaid Time OffRetirement PlanLife Insurance and more!High school diploma or G.E.D ANDTwo years’ experience performing maintenance work in a general maintenance environment ORAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and Certifications:Valid State Driver’s LicenseEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
