Job summary

The Salvation Army in Asheboro, NC is seeking a Maintenance Driver who will split time between driving duties and general building upkeep. The role requires reliability to transport materials, pick up supplies, and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and facilities.

You will clean, sanitize, and prepare rooms, assist with repairs, and help maintain a safe, orderly environment for residents and staff. A valid driver's license and ability to read and communicate in English are required.

Qualifications

• Six months experience performing general housekeeping.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Ability to perform physical duties and operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping duties across lodge/facility, cleaning bathrooms, floors, furniture and kitchens.
• Assist in maintenance tasks including minor repairs and painting.
• Drive Salvation Army vehicle for deliveries and pickups, log mileage, and report issues.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to safety standards.
• Prepare meeting rooms, arrange furniture as needed.

Job description

Driver (30%):Picks-up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed.Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.Schedules routine maintenance of The Salvation Army vehicle to ensure safety of passengers and long life of vehicle. Washes and cleans vehicle regularly.Drives truck to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.Building Maintenance (70%):Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.Sweeps, vacuums, mops and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks.Cleans windows; dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures.Cleans kitchen, activity room, kitchen appliances and/or dining area; washes dishes.Empties trash cans regularly; collects trash from grounds.Assists in setting up meeting rooms; sets up tables and chairs.Monitors light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order; replaces light bulbs as necessary.Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor pluming repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.Performs routine electrical repairs; replaces and adds receptacles; repairs light fixtures; performs other miscellaneous electrical repairs.Performs maintenance and repair of Salvation Army buildings and quarters; repairs roofs, sidings, doors, and steps, etc.Paints inside and outside of all Salvation Army buildings.Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected and surroundings are left neat and clean.Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed.Maintains all tools, supplies, parts, and equipment belonging to the Maintenance Department.Performs any other duties as may be assigned.No formal education or experience requiredSix months experience performing general housekeeping duties,OrAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Certifications:Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.Physical Requirements:Ability to meet attendance requirements.Ability to read and communicate the English language.Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work.Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.Working Conditions:Work is performed in a lodge/shelter/residential facility with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt and dust, and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
