Job summary

The Salvation Army in Sarasota, FL seeks a dedicated maintenance technician to perform day-to-day repairs and preventative maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment. You will operate a Salvation Army vehicle, maintain inventory, and ensure safety and SOP compliance.

This full-time role requires hands-on skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, with a valid driver’s license and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Outdoor work and driving duties are included.

Qualifications

• Two years of coursework from a vocational/technical school in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or construction trades.
• Three years of progressively responsible maintenance/repair experience for commercial facilities.
• Valid State Driver’s license and ability to meet background screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and repairs on buildings, vehicles, grounds, and equipment.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles and appliances.
• Operate Salvation Army vehicles and manage inventory of property equipment; ensure safety and SOP compliance.

Job description

Schedule: 40 hours/weekThis position is responsible for:Participates in the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of Salvation Army buildings, vehicles, grounds, and equipment and performs a variety of complex maintenance work for buildings and groundsfor same; ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; operates a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials; maintains an inventory of all Salvation Army property as requested/required.Key Responsibilities:Constructs and performs minor to more complex repairs of building structures, walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets, and furniture when needed.Troubleshoots and repairs minor mechanical malfunctions and performs preventative maintenance on vehicles, dishwashers, laundry machines, vent fans, etc.; performs minor adjustments; lubricates and cleans vehicles and/or equipment; conducts the maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; ensures proper preventative maintenance and repairs that cannot be done in house at reasonable costs.Participates in, and monitors the preventative maintenance (PMP) of all mechanical, electrical, utility equipment, and appliances; conducts routine inspections of kitchen appliances, FRS residences maintenance tools and equipment, as well as heat and air conditioning, , telephone, security and fire alarm systems on a routine basis to ensure the long life of the same.Safely operates a Salvation Army box truck, bus or forklift and maintains current training requirements.Participates in performing maintenance, janitorial, and/or housekeeping work; monitors work in progress and upon completion ensures accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.Employee Benefits:PTOHoliday Pay403b Retirement Plan (with employer match)Health Plan (Medical, Vision, Dental, Hearing, Pharmacy)Supplemental insurances& MORE!EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Two years course work from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air condition, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades,Andthree years progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and groundsOrAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:Valid State Driver’s licenseEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled*This position requires a level 2 background screening.
