Job summary

BronxWorks is seeking a Porter for the Bronx, NY location. role involves general maintenance tasks within the Westchester Avenue Safe Haven and other BronxWorks facilities, including repairs, painting, cleaning, and basic plumbing.

The position requires 1–2 years of building maintenance experience, English proficiency, and a preferred valid driver’s license. Full-time, on-site work across boroughs with physical requirements and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• One to two years building maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in English required; proficiency in second language preferred.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in any repair, as necessary.
• Perform groundwork.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, empty trash, clean windows, etc. regularly and as necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Painting.
• Wall board repair including patching, spackling and sanding.
• Floor maintenance (stripping, sealing, waxing).
• Unit clean-up.
• Some plumbing including the replacement of faucets, toilets, etc. Must know how to use a plumber's snake.
• Snow removal.
• Other work as assigned by the superintendent
