Synergy in Boston is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our building operations team. You will perform maintenance duties, respond to work orders, and support contractors in an urban office building.

Job Description

Synergy, a leading Boston commercial real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This individual will be a key member of our maintenance staff working under supervision, performing all maintenance duties and responding to work orders, tenant calls, and other operational/administrative duties for an urban-based office building as instructed.

Responsibilities

• Monitors building system operations and performance. Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.
• Provides support to work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work includes landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbers, and cleaning.
• Performs repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as directed.
• Reviews assigned work orders, estimates time and materials needed to complete repair, and orders necessary materials and supplies.
• Maintains the building lighting system, including element and ballast repairs or replacements as directed. Performs carpentry, furniture assembly and locksmith tasks as needed.
• Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in building maintenance and trade skills, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, EMS and other building mechanical systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office and Outlook; experience with electronic work order and preventative maintenance systems.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work to be performed both inside the property and outside with exposure to weather, fumes, electrical current and machine noise.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, repetitive use of hands, power hand grasping, and reaching above and below shoulder level.
• Occasional sitting, squatting, crawling, kneeling.
• Ability to operate assigned equipment and machinery. May be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive hourly rate of $26–36/hr, may vary based on location and experience.
