Job summary

The Guild for Human Services in Massachusetts Concord is seeking a facility maintenance technician to inspect, service, and repair building systems, ensuring a safe and productive workplace.

You will diagnose and fix multi-trade mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, perform preventative maintenance, and respond to emergencies to minimize downtime and protect assets. Valid driver's license and background check required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance or industrial repair.
• Strong background in diagnosing and fixing multi-trade systems.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Executes preventative maintenance schedules to stop equipment failures before they happen and extend the lifespan of company assets.
• Diagnoses and resolves mechanical and technical issues to restore normal operations quickly and efficiently.
• Maintains and repairs electrical systems to guarantee a safe, reliable power supply across all facilities.
• Services plumbing networks and fixtures to prevent leaks, water damage, and operational disruptions.
• Regulates and repairs HVAC units to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures and optimal air quality.
• Utilizes hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete precision repairs and daily upkeep tasks.
• Repairs damaged equipment right the first time, minimizing costly replacements and production delays.
• Performs basic carpentry work to maintain building structures, doors, walls, and fixtures.
• Enforces safety compliance rules on every task to maintain an accident‑free environment and meet all regulatory standards.

As a key member of our team, you inspect, service, and fix building systems and equipment to create a safe and productive workplace for everyone.

Your hands‑on expertise and quick response to issues protect company assets and ensure our daily activities face zero downtime.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Holds a high school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Brings at least two to four years of hands‑on experience in facility maintenance or industrial repair.
• Demonstrates a strong background in diagnosing and fixing multi‑trade systems.

Knowledge/Skills

• Applies expert knowledge of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
• Operates various hand and power tools with precision and care.
• Communicates clearly with team members and department heads to report repair statuses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completes a vocational training program or holds a relevant trade certification in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance.
• Possesses experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

• Lifts heavy equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Stands, bends, kneels, and reaches for extended periods during repairs.
• Works in various indoor and outdoor environments, including tight spaces and heights.
• Responds to emergency repair calls outside of standard business hours when necessary.

Requirements

• Training and experience is general maintenance duties.
• Undergo a full Massachusetts Background Record check, including fingerprints.
• Valid Driver’s license.
