Description

Our Building Maintenance Mechanic is a vital professional in the manufacturing sector, responsible for the upkeep of machinery and equipment. Their role encompasses a broad range of tasks including installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial systems. They ensure operational efficiency by conducting regular inspections and performing necessary adjustments to machinery. With a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems, these technicians are adept at troubleshooting issues and implementing proactive maintenance strategies to prevent downtime. Their expertise contributes significantly to the smooth running of production processes, making them an indispensable asset to any industrial operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints to understand the machinery and systems in place.
  • Installing new production equipment and ensuring its proper setup and integration into manufacturing processes.
  • Conducting regular servicing and maintenance of equipment, including motors, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines to preemptively identify potential issues.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Adjusting mechanical parts using hand and machine tools to ensure optimal operation.
  • Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performing routine maintenance and safety checks in compliance with OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Communicating effectively with the production team to coordinate maintenance activities without disrupting production schedules.
  • Preparing and submitting detailed maintenance reports, documenting actions taken and recommending further improvements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of related experience Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to trouble shoot mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical control systems experience: relays, contactors, VFD, PLC
  • General metal fabrication
  • MIG and or TIG welding
  • Lean manufacturing / TPM (Total Production Maintenance)
  • Industrial electric
  • Plumbing

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and > 40 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to operate in confined spaces
  • Comfortable with heights from 10” to 20’
  • Committed to the use of PPE as applicable

Working Conditions:

Work is performed a manufacturing environment where significant safety considerations exist from use of dangerous equipment, proximity to moving objects, full-body physical labor and handling of medium-to-heavy weight materials.
