Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years in maintenance/facilities; 5+ years in supervisory/management role.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license; pool operator certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays as required.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance and repair activities across the Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards property, including the Inn, yurts, pool, spa, vineyards, and supporting facilities. This role ensures that all buildings, systems, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. The position is both hands-on and supervisory, requiring leadership of maintenance staff and collaboration with other departments to support smooth daily operations and guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and repair activities for all buildings and facilities, including guest rooms, yurts, common areas, pool/spa, and exterior structures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and improvement opportunities, addressing issues promptly.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of building systems and equipment, minimize downtime, and reduce costs.
  • Manage and prioritize work orders and maintenance requests, assigning tasks to staff or contractors and ensuring timely completion.
  • Procure and maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities, optimizing cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards, implementing safety protocols to mitigate hazards.
  • Supervise, train, and support maintenance staff to foster professional growth and ensure high-quality performance.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to coordinate maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to guest services.
  • Uphold Nicewonder Inn’s standards of hospitality and service excellence, ensuring the physical environment enhances guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible maintenance or facilities experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver’s license; pool operator certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays as required.
Preferred
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, or related field.
  • Prior experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) (MaintainX).
  • OSHA or similar safety certification.
  • Experience in a luxury hospitality, hotel, resort, country club, or similar high-service environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance procedures and techniques across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool, and general building systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with proven ability to train, motivate, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Budget management skills, including tracking expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, and performing tasks in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders, and performing manual labor.
  • Work performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Exposure to chemicals, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
