Job summary

City of Eugene seeks a Building Maintenance Worker 2 to perform skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance tasks across City facilities. The role includes project planning, coordinating work, and supervising lower-level staff.

A strong emphasis on safety, record-keeping, and training is required. The position requires four years of journey-level experience, a high school diploma with specialized training, and valid Oregon licensure.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible journey-level experience in one building/construction trade which includes some project planning and lead responsibilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent and specialized training in building construction and maintenance.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass a physical assessment and drug test.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license (or ability to obtain by date of hire) with driving records check and endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and repairs on a wide variety of City buildings and facilities.
• Pre-plan and schedule projects including estimates for cost, time and materials; order supplies and obtain permits; ensure safety and standards.
• Monitor contractor work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards; inspect alterations and solve onsite problems.
• Operate hand and power tools related to building maintenance and construction.
• Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and equipment serviced.
• Coordinate the moving and installation of office equipment and furnishings for renovations.
• Provide training to employees in equipment use and maintenance methods.
