Job summary

AEP is seeking a Building Maint Tech in Niles, MI for full-time work performing skilled operations on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, repairs, and coordinating with contractors to ensure safety and compliance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2–3 years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license. CAST testing or licenses in electrician/HVAC are preferred, with overtime and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers? license.
• Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred.
• Willingness to pursue CAST certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on HVAC equipment and related systems.
• Repair, install and operate electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Maintain building furnishings, drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, etc.
• Coordinate with contractors and ensure contract compliance and safety.
• General housekeeping, inventory management, and record-keeping.

## Building Maint Tech-AApply: Niles, MI: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: September 24, 2026 (9 days left to apply): R18723**Job Posting End Date**09-24-2026Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date**Job Summary**Under limited supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements.**Job Description****What you’ll do:**Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.
