Indiana Michigan Power Company in Michigan's Niles area is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician B to perform maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems in accordance with codes and safety rules. You will handle general building upkeep, read blueprints, coordinate with contractors, keep records, and respond to emergency call-outs as needed.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as Building Maintenance Technician B or 3+ years equivalent in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license; CAST test completed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building systems.
  • Repair, install and operate building equipment and systems in accordance with codes and safety rules.
  • General building maintenance including drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing and floors.
  • Read blueprints and instructions; coordinate with contractors and team members; maintain records and reports.

Job Posting End Date09-24-2026Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end dateJob SummaryUnder limited supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements.Job DescriptionWhat you’ll do:Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner. Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.What you’ll need:Education: High school diploma or GED required.Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers? license. Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades test (CAST) is required.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred. Must be willing to pursue the certificationPSO Building Maint Techs: PSO Building Maint Techs: City of Tulsa 1st Class Engineer license required in lieu of CAST testing for the PSO Tulsa General Office location only.Overtime required. Overnight travel may be required. In addition, scheduled as well as unscheduled, weekend and evening shift work may be required.
