American Electric Power Co. seeks a Building Maint Technician B to perform skilled repairs and maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems across AEP facilities. Under limited supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements.
What you’ll do:
Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.
Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.
Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.
Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.
Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner. Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required.
What you’ll need:
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers? license. Successful completion of the Construction and Skilled Trades test (CAST) is required.

Manage all aspects of the preventive and predictive maintenance functions for AEP office buildings and service centers in an assigned region. This includes ensuring the effective use of space, managing employee moves through effective space planning and management of furniture inventories. Additionally, manage a variety of functions within these facilities that may include mail and printing services and cafeterias. The incumbent is responsible for effectively managing O&M and Capital budgets and for providing ongoing prioritization of projects that could be accomplished in the event additional funding is made available from OPCos or Corporate Planning and Budgeting.
