Job summary

AEP is seeking a Building Maint Tech to support HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry needs at the Muncie, IN site. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair varied building systems and assist with site improvements.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years of related experience, and a valid driver’s license. Licenses or certifications in HVAC or electrical work are preferred. Overtime and shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Building Maintenance Technician B or at least three (3) years equivalent experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing or carpentry.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
• Electrician or HVAC license or CFC refrigerant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on HVAC-related equipment, generators and building systems in accordance with industry standards and codes.
• Perform general building maintenance and repairs (drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows).
• Monitor and communicate with contractors; ensure work complies with contracts and safety rules.
• Handle housekeeping, inventory management and procurement of parts.
• Maintain records and submit reports as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and instructions; use computers as needed.

## Building Maint Tech-AApply: Muncie, IN: Marion, IN: Full time: Posted Today: End Date: October 3, 2026 (9 days left to apply): R19316**Job Posting End Date**10-03-2026Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date**Job Summary**Under limited supervision perform skilled work involving the operation, maintenance, repair, alteration and additions to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical building systems, building furnishings and site improvements.**Job Description**What you’ll do:* Perform preventative/predictive maintenance on, troubleshoot, repair, install and operate various types of HVAC-related equipment, emergency generators, and general building mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems in accordance with industry standards and mechanical, electrical, plumbing and building codes.* Perform general building maintenance and repair related to drywall, masonry, painting, ceilings, roofing, tile, carpets, windows and other related items.* Monitor the work of, communicate effectively with, and/or assist others, including contractors, engaged in maintenance, construction and operation activities. Ensure work is completed in compliance with contract terms and conditions and in accordance with company safety, security, environmental and conduct rules.* Perform general housekeeping duties as required, such as, assemble, move, repair, hang and adjust furniture, wall hangings, doors, windows and other office items, assist in snow removal, storm damage cleanup, lawn maintenance, spill cleanup, inventory management.* Procure necessary quality parts and material in the most economical and accepted manner.* 6) Maintain records, including inspection documentation, and submit reports as required..
