Job summary

Parity is seeking a Building Intelligence Engineer in the Washington DC area to ensure client buildings are properly quoted, set up, and optimized within Parity’s remote HVAC optimization framework.

You will collaborate with Sales, Operations, and programming teams to analyze energy savings, oversee installation, and validate commissioning while navigating local BEPS and incentive landscapes. A hands-on, proactive, and growth-minded engineer is ideal for this fast-growing startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or higher, ideally with a focus on HVAC, building automation, or mechanical/electrical engineering.
• 2–5 years experience in energy auditing/energy services, MEP engineering, or controls/building automation.
• Familiarity with energy incentive programs.
• Willingness to travel to client sites within the greater Washington DC area.
• Eagerness to grow, learn, and tackle opportunities in a fast-growing startup environment.
• Quick learner; proactive in improving processes; drive for efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site assessments of client buildings to estimate savings and costs for Parity’s service.
• Use Parity’s modeling tools to analyze energy savings potential from on-site data and historical utility data.
• Oversee installation and setup phases to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate between Parity’s software platform and field controllers, testing control sequences with engineering support.
• Complete commissioning and sign-off to meet program requirements.
• Manage incentive applications and procurement processes for Parity.
• Interview building staff to understand existing controls and challenges.
• Support sales with market details and contacts for proposals.
• Serve as a local technical resource for live Parity projects and provide post-installation support.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of local BEPS and incentive landscapes, requirements, and trends.
• Build relationships with local electrical, mechanical, and controls contractors; manage procurement of hardware and services.
