Job summary

Prince William County’s Department of Development Services is seeking a Construction Inspector – Building to inspect residential, commercial, and industrial structures for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and related codes.

You will review construction documents, perform field inspections, educate property owners, tenants, engineers and contractors, and complete inspection reports and data entry using a county laptop.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and 2 years of related experience.
• Preferred 3+ years of building construction experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential, commercial, and industrial projects for code compliance.
• Perform project research and data entry of inspection results.
• Assist customers in navigating inspection processes.
