Job summary

Prince William County is seeking a Special Inspections Engineer to work on residential and commercial construction with a strong structural engineering component. The role blends office and field work, including reviewing drawings, reports, and ensuring public safety on site.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least one year of related experience, with telework possible 1–2 days per week after probation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of related experience.
Preference for MS Office, CAD, and engineering software.
Experience with code enforcement and inspections is valued.

Responsibilities

Review construction drawings and engineering reports, and communicate with internal and external customers to ensure public safety.
Conduct quality assurance inspections on active construction sites to ensure work aligns with approved plans and codes.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and 3rd party inspectors to ensure code compliance and safety.
